FALL 2007 ACTIVITIES

Back

Fall is always a busy time of year for YBEEP, with teachers and students returning to school, preparations for salmon spawning field trips, and then the pleasant days spent on the river bank watching Spring Chinook completing their life cycle.

Teachers participated in their field training session on 18 September this year. They were able to view the new Safari in a Box kits donated by the Central Washington Chapter of Safari Club International, as well as to hear about their teacher training program. Student field trips began on 17 September.

Salmon spawning field trips continued through October 4, 2007. Although the numbers of fish were down this year and the weather was cloudy, every student was able to see spawning salmon. Trout eggs were delivered for 14 classrooms this Fall. We jumped into Yakima Greenway field trips, the Yakima Rivers Festival, and Chief Kamiakin Elementary School's Ecosystem Study classroom presentations, Prosser Hatchery egg take, Campbell Farm Fall Festival, and our November teacher training.

Teachers learn about the Safari Club's teacher training opportunity and view the Safari in a Box.
